Question: what kind of philosophy is this? Marx says "religion is the opiate of the masses." How does this fit in?

I think the philosophy of this short film is live for today and not tomorrow. How this fits in with Marx's quote "religion is the opiate for the masses" is that like religion we are always looking for answers in the unknown rather than opening our eyes to the world we've always known.
